Commitment to the Environment

It’s simple. A company that preserves human life also should protect the environment that
supports it.

First and foremost, we comply with all applicable environmental laws and requirements of the countries in which we operate. Zero non-compliance is the goal.

We are certified to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. Our environmental management system is at the core of our approach and supports our objectives and targets to achieve zero non-compliance, improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions, waste and freshwater use.

A major initiative is to minimize not only our waste but that of our customers. We comply with the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive that is aimed at reducing the amount of electrical and electronic waste going to landfills. As such, we follow a cradle-to-cradle philosophy by recycling not only our own production waste but also returned and decommissioned gas detectors from our customers.

For GMI, as a producer of industrial batteries under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, we are obliged to take back free of charge, waste industrial batteries supplied to an end user for treatment and recycling. If any of our customers or in certain cases other end users, require us to take back Industrial batteries, they should contact us at GMI_CustomerSupport@Teledyne.com or contact number +44 (0) 141 812 3211. GMI will take back the following chemistry of batteries: Nickel Cadmium Batteries.

Our commitment to protecting the environment means we will never be satisfied with our performance. As such, we continually search for new ways to minimize our footprint and that of our customers through the processes we use and the gas detection products we make.
